Dunes Workshop is an artist and researcher collective based in New York.
Their body of work explores the disciplinary boundary of architecture, investigating how people shape spaces and how spaces, in turn, construct people’s lives.
Their essays and interviews appear in various magazines such as “Duku,” “Yi Magazine,” “Time + Architecture,” “Urban China,” “The Architect,” and “Tangent Essay.” They have also written and edited two art books that have participated in the Art Book in China venue and the Rehearsal Book Fair in New York. Art Book An Amusement Park for Marcel Marceau in Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is collected by the Library of Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The collective has participated in various events as speakers and panelists including TedX, Wechat 10th Anniversary, UCCA Edge, Shanghai Chronus Art Center, Aiiiii Art Center. Their works have been exhibited at Ars Electronica, PSA Emerging Curators Project, Shenzhen-Hong Kong Bi-city Biennale, Venice Architecture Film Festival, Architecture and Media Biennale.
Yalun Li Co-founder
Designer and artist. Her works focus on the instability of individual identity in contemporary life, exploring how the dynamic relationship between architecture and memory shapes identity. Yalun holds a M.Arch II from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (GSD) , and a B.Arch from Syracuse University with a minor in Philosophy. She is currently a faculty member at Kean University.
Feiyue Chen Co-founder
Writer and researcher. His research focuses on the public realm in urban and digital contexts and how spatial components condition human behaviors and interactions. Feiyue holds a Master of Science in Architecture Studies (SMArchS Architecture and Urbanism) from MIT.
Daisy Ziyan Zhang Creator
Trained as an architect, she is now a designer and architecture filmmaker. She is dedicated to creating experimental and extraordinary architectural narratives from everyday life. Daisy holds a Master of Architecture from MIT, and a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from University of Sydney. Her works have been awarded at international film festivals.
